What is a Muse? According to Greek mythology a muse is any of the nine daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus each of whom presided over a different art or science. A muse is also a guiding spirit, a source of inspiration, or a poet. As a verb it means to consider carefully or to meditate.
After careful consideration we have meditated and launched a new venture that reflects our passion: publishing, writing, and illustrating books and developing products to support them.
Muse River is the English name for the River Maas which flows through the city of Maastricht, in the Netherlands. MuseRiverProductions will flow as mightily as the Maas, which has been a source of inspiration for Schaefer Communications' work over the last dozen years.
As a first volley we are proud to present The Adventures of Yin & Yang: Snoepje and The Pizza Box which will be available this year in the autumn of 2010, just in time for holiday giving! A collaboration between Susan Hermse Schaefer and Michael Bower Putman, of Putman Illustration & Design, this illustrated tale will delight and captivate cat lovers and simply lovers of all kinds. It is the story of two people who meet and fall in love later in life and the furry family they create. Oh yes, did we mention that they find a new member of this family in a most unusual place? This first edition is in English and Dutch. We hope that subsequent editions can appear in English and other languages. Therefore the book will be a language learning tool as well as a lovely story.
We hope to create a 12-month wall calendar as a companion piece, and will be using proceeds to support a national animal rescue organization in the US and the Netherlands.
